All dolls have secret lives as we all know…here’s a peek into one of them!
I admire a gal with a dream… especially when that dream is opening up your own business. After all, mine was to open the Pink Bubbles Doll Spa and here we are!
My friend Betty’s dream was owning her own restaurant and tonight hers was finally coming true. In fact “Betty’s Drive-Thru” was set to have its grand-opening in just a few hours when she came rushing in to the spa. “Honey, I hope you can squeeze me in cause I’m running outta time and one of my waitresses just called in sick! Imagine that, on her first night!” she told me. “Can I put this in your window while I’m here?” she said holding up the “Waitress Wanted” sign. “I gotta find a girl quick and I can’t be in two places at once! I may have to interview and hire her in curlers!”
“Sure thing Betty!” I said. While she placed the sign in the window, (I’m not even going to think about what passerby’s would say, scratching their heads..after all a waitress needed at Pink Bubbles?!) I started preparing my station for the job ahead.
Poor Betty, she’d been going a mile-a-minute for months readying the restaurant, and it was taking a toll on her appearance. She wanted to look great tonight and I had just under two hours to get the order right!
The first thing I recommended from our menu to Betty was a relaxing Pink Bubbles Beauty Bath for Face & Body. She needed some time to just relax, clear her head and let us wait on her for a bit.
When Daffy brought her back from her treatment, she took a seat in my chair and I got to work. Her hair was just a mess, I don’t think she’d run a comb through it in weeks, she didn’t have the time! After a good washing and some conditioner, I de-tangled it and began the styling. I pulled her hair up and back, securing it into a smooth ponytail and then curled the ends. I then addressed the messy curls of her bangs. Now, her hair looks great!
Next, I started on her make-up. I darkened her faded brows, then I evened out her blue eye shadow. Next, I touched up her lids. Her beautiful blue eyes finished, I mixed and applied a pretty coral shade of lipstick. I also gave her a touch of blush as she was a little pale. She looked years younger! I had Beatrice bring in her tray of “Safety-First!” earrings, (as if you could stop her!) and she selected the perfect pair.
All the while, Betty kept her eye nervously on the door, waiting for someone to notice the sign…but unfortunately, no one did. “Well, your ready to go!” I said as I turned her to the mirror. “You’re gonna knock em’ dead tonight Betty, I just know it!” Giving herself one last look, she said “I just hope to get through it. I guess I’m gonna have to pull triple duty tonight, owner, manager and waitress!” She then walked over and pulled her sign from the window.
“You know what Betty? You’re going to enjoy your big night as the proud owner only! I’ve done my fair share of waiting tables and if you’ll have me, I’m happy to help tonight! Look, I’m already wearing the right shoes!” I said pointing down to my no-nonsense white ortho’s. We both laughed! “Your hired Honey…your a real doll!” she said giving me a big hug. “Dinner’s on me…and by the way, you get to keep your own tips!”

Thank you Victoria and Betty for visiting the Pink Bubbles Doll Spa!

All dolls have secret lives as we all know…here’s a peek into one of them!
Here at the Pink Bubbles Doll Spa, we’re often asked to wipe away years of wear and tear from the faces and hairdo’s of our clients. As a-matter-of-fact, turning backs the hands of time is our business! Take for instance the requests of our next spa guest, Marjorie.
Everyone knew a girl like Marjorie in High School…she was the popular girl, the cheerleader, teacher’s pet and more than likely voted “Queen of the Prom!”
On that final day of High School, when she pulled away from the parking lot in that new convertible she got as a graduation gift from her parents, you just knew she was off to begin her fabulous future. Admit it, you were a tad jealous…I know I was!
All of those wonderful things actually did happen for our Marjorie. She had a wonderful life indeed! She graduated college, eventually married her “Campus Hero” and settled into a lovely Dream House. The happy years just drifted by.
But no one, not even Marjorie, escapes the passing of the years. And the day she opened her mailbox and found out her High School reunion was just around the corner, she decided she had better try to pull herself together! As you can imagine, girls like Marjorie have the added pressure of living up to everyone’s memories of her. Being voted “Girl Most Likely…” comes back to haunt you in the end! In fact, she was “most likely” going to be the girl scrutinized the closest by her classmates. And that’s where Pink Bubbles comes in!
Still a lovely girl all these years later, I agreed with her that we could still make some improvements for that evenings reunion. She wanted to look her best, so I advised her it’s always good to start with our Pink Bubbles Beauty Bath for Face & Body, and she agreed. Daffy made sure Marjorie was well taken care of while I prepared my station. When she returned, I washed, conditioned and re-set her hair, eliminating the dreaded “frizzies!”
Happy with her hair, I got to work refreshing her make-up. Her brows, lids and lips were restored to their former glory and with the assistance of Madge, her finger and toenail polish matched the red shade of her lips. Our jobs complete, I finally turned her to the mirror to show her the results and I swear I saw a sparkle in her eyes she didn’t have when she first came in! Looking at her now, I couldn’t imagine her being any more lovely that she was at that very moment!
I asked her what she planned on wearing that evening and a mischievous smile spread across her face. “You know, I tried on my old prom dress yesterday and I’m proud to say, it still fits!” Of course, with her figure, I already assumed it did! “Wouldn’t it be a hoot to show up in it!” she laughed. “Honey,” I said, “You still got the face and the figure, but do yourself a big favor, forget the dress! Your pushing your luck as it is with those broads!”
An “Enchanted Evening” awaits Christine’s lovely doll! She’s managed to go back in time with the help of the Pink Bubbles Doll Spa staff. A Pink Bubbles Beauty Bath for Face & Body, followed by hair and make-up treatments made this gal “most likely” to re-take her throne as “Queen of the Prom!” once again!
Thank you Marjorie and Christine for visiting us here at the Pink Bubbles Doll Spa…come back again real soon!

All dolls have secret lives as we all know…here’s a peek into one of them!
Let’s face it, there’s nothing worse than a stale sandwich! Here at the Pink Bubbles Doll Spa our staff takes turns one day a week and brings in lunch for the other girls. It breaks up lunch-packing monotony and gives us all more variety. Since there are five of us here; myself, Vera, Beatrice, Madge and Daffy, we have five lunches covered with only one day to figure it out on our own. Friday’s are Daffy’s day to provide and though she tries hard, it’s hit or miss to say the least!
Today, Daffy’s lunch menu consisted of Devils Food chicken spread on rye bread, cantaloupe slices and Dr. Pepper. For desert, Hostess Snow Balls, you know, the hot pink coconut marshmallow cakes with the creamy middle. Poor Daffy, I hope she finds a husband who can cook…for his sake! Besides the clashing tastes of our lunchtime bounty, the rye bread was stale. Not because it wasn’t fresh, but the wax paper opened up and the sandwiches got to air out since the early morning hours.
Why am I rattling on about stale sandwiches you may wonder? Because it leads me to Carol, my next spa client! Carol’s a real doll, not to mention our local Tupperware lady. As a matter of fact it was Carol who offered me escape from adding Daffy’s snowball snack cake to the churning ingredients fighting in my stomach from lunch!
Carol came rushing into the spa to set up for the Tupperware party slated for 7:00 that evening. Why is there going to be a Tupperware party at Pink Bubbles you may wonder? Because frankly, I wanted those adorable hot pink drinking cups with the embedded silver glitter I was offered as a hostess gift! As a bonus, I also thought it would be a great way to meet the ladies of the area, you know, the ones who just might make an appointment with us in the future!
“Tupperware parties, the only place a lady is allowed to “burp” in public! ”
With only a few hours to set up, Carol really needed to reserve some time in my chair as well! Always well-groomed, I’ve never seen her in such a state of disarray. Running a house and business on the side can really take its toll apparently! She was desperate for a quick wash, tease & set before the party and luckily for her, I’m also in the business of “keepin’ it fresh!” The harried hostess with a head for business needed that same head transformed, but quick. Let’s face it, she wasn’t going to make a very good impression, not to mention many sales with her customers looking this way!
She started off with a relaxing Pink Bubbles Beauty Bath for Face & Body. Refreshed, she had her Bubble hairdo washed, set and styled. I also freshened up her make-up by touching up her brows, eyes and beautiful full lips. Madge gave her a Mani & Pedi in exchange for a generous mixing bowl discount!
The girls here on the staff are staying after work to attend Carol’s Party. We’ve all decided to chip in and surprise Daffy with her first set of Tupperware, the sandwich keepers! Hopefully it won’t be long before Carol gets them in!
By the way, here’s Carol now! Let’s get the party started!
I think it’s safe to whip out your sales book now Carol, you look as fresh as last nights lemon pie, stored in the pink Tupperware pie caddy found on page 13 of this months catalog!
Please enjoy Carol’s before & after photos below!
Carol is now ready to take orders! She invested some extra time before her party to enjoy a little pampering! She started with our Pink Bubbles Beauty Bath for face & Body. Her hair was washed, styled and set. Special attention was given to her eyes, giving them a less “startled” look! Luscious lips were the final touch to get the party started!
Thank you Carol and Cathy for visiting us here at the Pink Bubbles Doll Spa! Come back again real soon!

All dolls have secret lives as we all know…here’s a peek into one of them!
Who doesn’t love to travel? I know I do! Of course, I rarely escape the pink stucco walls of the spa these days, we’ve been so busy. That’s why I always enjoy a good travel adventure shared by a fortunate client who actually gets to go somewhere exotic. By the time I spray on their final coat of Aqua-Net, I feel like I actually tagged along on their trip! Why, this month alone, I vicariously went to Miami Beach, Catalina Island, Japan and with the latest tale from my newest client Bobbie – Jamaica, without ever leaving my station!
I’ll admit when I first met her, I was taken aback a little by her beatnik style. But clearly not as much as Vera our receptionist, who couldn’t hide her disapproving looks as she took her in from head to toe. “Your twelve o’clock is here.” she announced bringing her in, “Please have a seat dear. You’ll be here a while! Would you prefer coffee or tea?” “I’ll take coffee, thank you!” replied our guest. Always willing to pitch in, especially on hectic days like today, Vera called out “Daffy! Bring coffee to station one!” and returned to her desk.
Now we all know vacations don’t always go as planned, but my new friend Bobbie’s adventure was indeed a trip for the books! According to her, she won the two-week Jamaican holiday as a contestant on “Let’s Make A Deal!”
Who would have thought dressing up as a giant carrot and being selected by Monty Hall to make a deal would end up bringing a girl such drama and adventure! Remembering back to that fateful day, she says she’s very happy she traded the new avocado green refrigerator for mystery door number three where the lovely Carol Merrill was standing!
“Let’s Make A Deal!” A place where girls dressed as carrots can end up in a pickle!
According to Bobbie, things went awry the moment she landed on the island of Jamaica. First, her luggage was nowhere to be found in the baggage claim. Later she was told apologetically, her new set of Samsonite “Silhouette” luggage (again courtesy of Monty Hall and Carol Merrill) containing all her lovely clothes was on its way to Canada! (BTW, who could have been so careless as to let a thing like that happen?!!)
In addition, adding to her dilemma, most of her $500.00 prize money was gone as well as she had tucked it behind the mirror of the stylish make-up case. With only $17.14 found at the bottom of her purse and a luckily paid in advance hotel room to her name, Bobbie decided just to make the best of things. So with the tenacity of Scarlett O’Hara, determined not to let that ole’ Civil War get her down, she set off to enjoy her holiday!
As you can imagine, her dough didn’t last long and with thirteen days to go and her luggage still remaining M.I.A., she took matters into her own hands. Walking along the shore, she was drawn to the rhythmic sound of a reggae band playing for the tourists. She noticed their large gumbie drum leaning alone against the tree and decided to give it a try! Musically gifted, she blended smoothly into their tempo. After several numbers, the bands lead singer, a nice fellow named Bob, made her an honorary member of his band “The Wailers” by giving her an equal share of the tips left by the appreciative listeners. She sure did need the money and was grateful to have it! They became great friends and she met them there every afternoon to play for the remainder of her stay!
She had a ball but said she may have taken things a bit too far by adopting the wild hair style of her band mates. Sunshine, salt, sand, and plenty of humidity for two weeks straight created the “do” seen below for me to untangle!
When she made it back home, her shocked mother made an appointment and drove her straight to the Pink Bubbles Doll Spa where she spent the afternoon with me, my rat-tail comb and a good conditioner! I really enjoyed listening to Bobbie’s Jamaican tales and hope she’ll return to the spa sometime soon. With her gorgeous new looks, I’m sure many more adventures await her!
Please enjoy her before & after photos below!
Bobbie says “Never be afraid to “go for broke!” When life hands you an avocado green refrigerator, don’t play it safe, trade it for the mystery behind door number three…you just may have the time of your life!”
Bobbie really needed a vacation from her vacation! She started off with a relaxing Pink Bubbles Beauty Bath for Face & Body. Some unfortunate facial stains were successfully treated and lightened, definitely improved, don’t you agree! With a face-full of refreshed make-up, coupled with her rescued mane of dark locks, I’d say she’s as beautiful a vision as any Caribbean sunset!
Thank you Greg and Bobbie for visiting us here at the Pink Bubbles Doll Spa! Come back soon!

“I’m A Red-Hot Mama!…But I’m Blue For You!”
P.B.D.S. Client #0024
From the collection of Steven!
It was the hottest day of the summer and the mercury in the spa’s thermometer left the 100 degree mark behind and continued right on climbing. On top of that, the air conditioner went on the fritz which only added to the merriment. I had Daffy find and plug-in all the fans we had stored in the back. Of course Vera complained the most about the heat as she doesn’t like to be uncomfortable, AT ALL! Beads of sweat, mixed with Aqua-Net trickled off her forehead, which she continually dabbed at with her lace hankie. Mix that with the smell of “Ambush!” her latest signature scent, and boy howdy!
~Vera’s latest signature smell! ~
We all sat cooking in our own juices waiting for Herb the repairman to show up and fix the darn cooler, which I’m sure is on its last legs. Now, just when you thought it wasn’t going to get any hotter, in walks our latest spa quest. This red-hot redhead certainly got your attention, bringing her own kind of heat! I swore the temperature jumped up ten more degrees when she entered the spa! Her Lava-Red hair and not so subtle make-up palate, complete with shiny as glass sealer, wasn’t exactly screaming “Sandra Dee” innocence. She was “all-woman” alright and I wouldn’t recommend leaving your Husband lying around out in the open with her in the vicinity, if you get my drift!
She climbed into my chair and after welcoming her to the Pink Bubbles Doll Spa, I asked how I could help her. “Well, I guess what I’m looking for is…you know, to tell you the truth, I’m not sure!” she said with a laugh. “I guess we can start at the top and work our way down honey!”
She had a great attitude with a terrific sense of humor to boot so I liked her immediately! “Your hair color sure is striking!” I told her. “I don’t think I have a swatch in this color.” “Well, snip off a sample with my compliments!” she laughed. “It might catch on.” “Or might catch fire!” I said as I gave her a wink. “I decided to become a red-head, and I don’t do anything half-assed!” she said. “If you’re looking for the girl next door…” “I know”, I said holding up my hand, “…go next door!” we both said in unison, laughing. Vera looked up at us, not amused!
“I guess I’d like to tone it down a bit…not my hair color mind you, I love it, but my overall look.” she told me. “I’m a singer, and I’m gonna try breaking into some of the high-brow joints uptown.” “I wanna stay me, but class it up!” were her instructions.
I handed her off to Daffy who escorted her into the back where she relaxed in a “cool-down” version of our Pink Bubbles Beauty Bath for Face & Body treatment. With her hair in a towel, she hopped back in my chair and my work began. I tamed her mass of locks, shaping them into a classic swirl hair design. With her hair now perfectly set, I finished her make-up, giving her a more elegant look. When I finished, she looked in the mirror and said “This is perfect, your some kind of magician! I sure could use you in my dressing room opening night!” “Well, I’ve been known to make house calls, why should nightclubs be any different! You know, I swear I’ve never seen shinier hair. What’s your secret?” I asked. “Just got lucky!” she said. “My hair has become my trademark, it really reflects the spotlights.” she told me.”Let me show you!”
Suddenly, she stood up and gave us an impromptu night club performance right on the spot! “You see, I always open up my set with this number! It’s called “That Terrific Rainbow!”
“Imagine me bathed in a hot red light!” she said. Raising her arms straight up, she began her song, a cappella. “I’m a red-hot mama!”… picture it, they hit me with a blue gel when I sing this line,… “but I’m blue…for you!” ….get it?…then comes the purple gel… “I get purple with anger…at the things you do!”…then a green gel bathes me in its light… “but I’m green with envy, when you meet a dame!” …here comes the orange hue… “and you burn my heart up with an orange flame!”…again with the red…”I”m a red-hot Mama, but your white and cold… white light… “Don’t you know your Mama, has a heart of gold!” …hit me with gold!… “Though we’re in those grey clouds…someday you’ll find, a terrific rainbow, over you and I!”
Myself, Daffy and yes, even Vera, gave her a round of applause. But the loudest clapping of all came from the entryway. Herb, who had finally showed up to repair the air conditioning, was the most appreciative of our floor show. “Put your eyes back in their sockets and get that thing working Herb!” scolded Daffy. Picking up his toolbox, he shot back a glance at our fiery songbird and let out a long wolf whistle! Laughing, he headed towards the back. “A typical man!” shot Vera.
Our new friend was a Red-Hot Mama alright! I think we’ll try to schedule an appointment for her in December, you know, when the furnace goes on the blink. We’ll need the heat!

Attack Of The 50 Foot Barbie!
P.B.D.S. Client #0023
From the collection of Kym!
Here at the Pink Bubbles Doll Spa, everyone is welcome, even if you can’t possibly enter the spa doors! So it was for our next client. A statuesque beauty, “My Size” Barbie had a request of gigantic proportions. She dreamed of a retro look, harkening back to the glory years of her past, the early 1960’s.
I knew there were going to be challenges right away due to her size. Firstly, she would never fit into any of our stylists chairs and you could also forget about sticking that big head into our petite pink wash bowl! Though she could have easily reached down and torn the roof off the spa, much like “The Attack Of The Fifty Foot Woman!” she was a dear and let the staff tend to her out back in the parking lot. Many cars had to be moved!
After her Pink Bubbles Beauty Bath for Face & Body, “M.S.” Barbie had her hair washed, conditioned and de-tangled, which by the way was quite a chore since she’d been roaming around for many years, obviously without a hairbrush. We did our best to capture the classic ponytail hairstyle even though she wasn’t rooted for it at all. And talk about hard to curl hair, this gal had a head full!
With her hair finally styled, it was now time to move on to her face. As she requested, I drew inspiration from the classic Barbie look. I shaped her brows and filled them in with the appropriate shade. Happy with the results, I moved on to her eyes. She obviously didn’t have the molded lids, in fact she had rooted lashes, but I did my best to give her the vintage Barbie gaze, eyes to the right. And of course we had to have the blue shadow! The finishing touch was of course her lips, which were now fuller and a deep red shade instead of the pretty pink she started with. After a mani & pedi with Madge she’s ready for her debut!
A first for the Pink Bubbles Doll Spa, may we present our biggest client ever, Miss “My Size” Barbie, a modern girl with a retro twist!
From the imagination of Kym and standing over 3 feet high, here is her vintage inspired “My Size” Barbie doll. Kym plans on sewing her new gal a replica of the classic black & white striped swimsuit. I hope she’ll be able to find her the perfect mules! Perhaps she will send the Pink Bubbles Doll Spa a photo when she’s finished that we can share with our readers!
To Braid Or Not To Braid, That Is The Question!
P.B.D.S. Client #0022
From the collection of Debbi!
Sometimes a dolls past and present just can’t seem to separate themselves. Like a braided ponytail, they just happily intertwine with each other. This was the case with our next Pink Bubbles Doll Spa client.
She actually arrived a little early for her appointment and as a reward from punctuality-obsessed Vera, wasn’t made to wait the extra fifteen minutes before being escorted to my station. As you all know by now, Vera runs a very tight ship when it comes to her appointment book. Early or on-time arrivals will always find a quite charming receptionist, while tardy clients more than likely come face-to-face with the cool and curt version, no matter what their excuses may be. A sort of Dr. Jekyll & Ms. Hyde situation comes to mind! If you knew Vera as well as I do, you’d understand. She has always kept everything in her life in very tidy order. Her home, children and of course, all three of her ex-husbands! So please, if you can, be on time!
My new client was a very pretty girl, though I will admit, quite disheveled. I would imagine any of us would be in this same state had we experienced her adventures. She certainly had an interesting past, that’s for sure! According to her, for more years than she cares to remember, she had been forced to live a perpetual childhood, her head stuck on a Skipper body! She doesn’t recall how it happened, but I would guess she was caught up in a head-swapping situation with her childhood owner. I’ve seen it many times here in the spa. Viewed by other dolls, including handsome Ken, as “just a kid”, she had nearly given up hope for a normal life. Luckily, she joined her new friend Debbi’s collection and was able to finally grow-up again and regained her womanly curves with a body replacement. Now it was time to take her transformation a step further with an appointment at Pink Bubbles!
When it came time to discuss hairstyle options, she wasn’t sure whether to keep her braided ponytail she’d worn for years or have it smoothed. I liked the charming braided look myself. It was a very cute look and really flattered her. But would the style be too much of a reminder of her unique past, too childish for her now that she had finally regained her new figure? In fact, she was going to visit Beatrice in our Fashion Boutique later and couldn’t wait to try on some lovely new dresses. Would the braid be right with her new wardrobe, she wondered? After quite a bit of a discussion it was decided she would keep it.
With the decision made, she enjoyed a well deserved Pink Bubbles Beauty Bath for Face & Body and then had her hair washed, conditioned and untangled with the assistance of our shampoo girl Daffy. They both seemed to really liked each other right away and I heard much laughter coming from the back. Daffy’s been a great new addition to our staff here at The Pink Bubbles Doll Spa and our customers evidently agree as she receives wonderful reviews on the pink comment cards Vera gives our guests. I do hope she stays on here at the spa, even if she finally achieves her dream of becoming an actress. I guess we’ll see!
When my client returned, I was ready to proceed with her hair. I began by pulling her hair straight back and gave her a wrapped top-knot ponytail. I separated and re-braided the hair. The ends were then curled and set and then a pretty white ribbon was selected to finish the style. I fluffed up her bangs and voila! Everyone agreed the braided ponytail was a cute take on the classic style and I think she’s really happy she kept it. It sets her apart and makes her beautifully unique! I then repaired her make-up while Madge tended to her nails.
Though this young gal endured an accidental extended childhood, she’s now ready to move on to the next chapter in her life. I can’t wait to see her in a lovely dress and heels. And with that new figure of hers, I’m sure she’ll never be mistaken by Ken for a little girl ever again!
Debbi’s pretty doll really enjoyed her long-awaited “grown-up” day at the spa! She started with the Pink Bubbles Beauty Bath for Face & Body. She had her braided ponytail hairstyle refreshed and selected a pretty white ribbon to finish it. Her eyebrows, lids and lips were also redone. Madge provided the matching polish for her nails. Beatrice was happy to assist her in choosing the “Safety-First” earrings she wears, secretly hoping our gal will choose a new dress from the Pink Bubbles Fashion Boutique to go with them!
“Here She Comes…Miss So & So!”
P.B.D.S. Client #0021
From the collection of Robin!
Hello readers and welcome back! You all remember Barb don’t you? The Blonde Bubble with the migraines and a fondness for the Apple-tini’s. Yeah, you know her. (If it’s still a little fuzzy or if you’re a little fond of the Apple-tini’s yourself, put down your glass and go back and check out her story. It’s the very first post we shared here on our site. Go ahead and refresh your memory as well as your drink! Bring us all one while you’re at it! We’ll wait…oh, back already, good! ) Well anyway, Barb carried through with her threat and finally sent one of her daughters over to see us here at The Pink Bubbles Doll Spa. It was her older girl, the former beauty title winner.
She came in about 11:30 this morning and get this, was in full formal attire, yes that early! I’m telling you, full length gray brocade dress with silver lame sash, matching evening cloak, clutch and heels. Very beautiful yes, but a lot to take in before lunch. Surprisingly, Vera didn’t say anything about her oddly timed ensemble at all, just scanned her appointment book and highlighted her name with her signature bright pink marker. As long as you make and keep your appointments, Vera’s a happy woman!
“Welcome to Pink Bubbles!” I said, leading her over to our pink satin consultation settee as we both sat down, “How can I help you today?” From her attire, I half expected her to open her clutch and whip out a sash that said “Miss So & So – 1965” and you know what, she did! I’m not kidding, along with an old newspaper clipping.
“Here, look!” she said excitedly as she handed me the clipping. “Seems like only yesterday, of course I was a bit younger then.” (No kidding, weren’t we all!) “My Mother made this very dress for me and it stole the show that night!” she exclaimed as she tapped the clipping (with a very chipped manicure I noted by the way,) “I was the winner hands down!” she exclaimed, wide-eyed. (Yes, she was wearing the same dress now as she was in the clipping. I agree it was odd, but don’t judge people!)
“When Daddy left us, I kinda lost my zip,” she continued, “just hung up my sash and quit the pageant circuit. Who knows, maybe I could have gone all the way, Miss America even… anyway, when Mother got back from her visit here she says it was almost like a miracle. You do such great work, I swear she practically looked like a new doll!”
“I thought I might give it a try too. I’ve decided it’s time for me to get out of the house, you know, maybe enter a few local pageants again, just for a lark of course! Can you help me?” I saw a spark in her eye and knew she wasn’t kidding. This girl, just like her mother Barb, needed a fresh start and by golly I was going to try to give it to her if I could! “My dear, that sounds like a wonderful plan,” I told her as I steered her towards my station, “but first we should fix you up a bit.” “Maybe we can try for something like this!” she said hopefully as she pushed the clipping towards me again. “Yes, just like this!” I said as I tucked it up on my mirror for reference.
I then handed her off to Daphie who assisted her with a Pink Bubbles Beauty Bath for Face & Body. When she returned, I got to work. I took my time with her hair and make-up, carefully copying what I saw in the old photo. When I finally finished, I stood back to view the results. “Daphie, come over her!” I called. She quickly joined me and we both gazed at her reflection. “Well?” I asked her. “All I can say is Wow! Honey, you look like a dream!” Daphie told the fresh-faced beauty. Folks, I kid you not, my new client looked exactly the same as she did so many years ago in the clipping! Like she went back in a time machine somehow.
Needless to say she was thrilled. “I can’t tell you how happy I am!” she said smiling with moist eyes. “Only one thing left to do!” I told her and reached over to the sash that was folded on her lap. I placed it over her head and adjusted it perfectly. “There!” I said. Brimming with a new confidence, she thanked us both again for our work, then walked over to an astonished Vera who was standing in the foyer. She paid her bill and then put on her cloak. With a final turn at the door she bid us all adieu with a queenly wave and regal smile.
Well, all I can say is, when you got good bones and a vinyl face like this gal had, the rest is easy! Look out Bert Parks, here she comes!

From the collection of the Pink Bubbles Doll Spa!
This lovely R.N. stopped by the Pink Bubbles Doll Spa this afternoon for a quick touch-up. A spa regular, Julia had just pulled a double shift at the hospital and needed a little extra help to ready herself for a date with Brad later in the evening. She had a large box with her and excitedly showed me the new outfit inside. “It’s called “Candlelight Capers” what do you think?” “It’s a knock-out Julia, Brad’s a lucky fella!” I told her. She smiled and headed for the dressing room.
She returned wearing our standard pink and white spa towel. Julia treated herself to our relaxing Pink Bubbles Beauty Bath for Face & Body. She had her hair washed and re-set, then had her lipstick refreshed. Looking like a million, she redressed herself in her white uniform, grabbed her purse and headed towards the door.
“Julia, wait!” I shouted as I dashed back into the dressing room. Grabbing the large box, I hurried back. Handing it to her, I said “Don’t forget this!” “Oh my! Thank you!” she replied. “Well, what would dinner be without a little “Candlelight?” I replied with a wink. “We’ll see ya again soon Julia!”
“You sure will, but luckily not again today!” she said tapping the box. “Have a good time!” I told her. She just smiled and off she went!
Julia enjoyed a Pink Bubbles Doll Spa Beauty Bath for Face & Body. Her hair was washed and re-set to its original 1969 style! She needed her lips refreshed as well. Good as new!
