There’s No Place Like Home Francie!

All dolls have secret lives as we all know…here’s a peek into one of them…
Long considered a “grail” to many collectors, this poor gal had an unfortunate bit of “Emerald City” green beginning to form on her lovely face. As reigning ‘Wizard’ here at the Pink Bubbles Doll Spa, I took on the case though I wasn’t sure if I could help her or not. I knew of course I could handle her hair and make-up requirements, after all it says so right here on the diploma’s that are framed and displayed on the walls of my station. I just wasn’t sure about her green spots. I knew “These things must be done delicately…” as quoted by a certain green-faced witch Dorothy once had a run-in with long ago!
The Wicked Witch of the West’s unique complexion was not one Francie wanted to emulate!
Well, much like Dorothy, Francie ended up spending quite a while here in Oz, I mean the spa, as I tried all the different tricks I had up my uniforms sleeves.
Pay no attention to whats going on behind the curtain Francie, I’ll figure it out!
Well, tricks 1, 2, & 3 didn’t do a thing! I shared this disappointing news with Francie’s owner Victoria, who bless her heart, told me to do whatever I could to help her. Besides, I knew Francie like Dorothy, was getting homesick and wanted to go home already!
“I just want to go home!” Dorothy Gale cries. Francie shared the sentiment!
I still had one treatment left in my wizard bag…the Color-Wash. I never tried it on this darker skin-tone before and was a little nervous to have this particular Francie be my first as the results, good or bad, would be permanent. Well, my last choice of treatment turned out to be the best choice…it worked!
With the greening finally at bay, we moved on to the fun stuff…hair and make-up!
“Can you even dye my eyes to match my gown?” Of course Dorothy, this is the Pink Bubbles Doll Spa!
Much hipper than Dot’s pigtail’s, Francie’s signature flip style was restored with great results!
I then brought back the shape and color of her lips and did a light touch-up to her brows. She also had a small repair on her right eye. A bit of blush was the final touch, revealing what was there all along…a gorgeous girl who would be the pride of any collection!
Though her trip far from home was uncertain, it certainly paid off in the end! Once again looking factory-fresh, finally Francie is ready to hitch the next twister outta here!
“There’s no place like home, there’s no place like home…”
Time to bid adieu to Pink Bubbles Francie!
“There’s no place like home…
“Wake up honey, it’s almost over!”
Was it all just a dream? We’ll never know! At any rate Victoria, Francie is on her way home at last, at last…better than ever!
Thanks again for putting your trust in the Pink Bubbles Doll Spa!

All dolls have secret lives as we all know…here’s a peek into one of them…
I just love Halloween. The air is crisp and cool and I enjoy the crunching sounds of the fallen leaves under my feet. Carved pumpkins and black sparkly cats that decorate the windows and porches all over town are wonderful to behold on my walk in to work. Later tonight, I’ll be joined on my journey home by little witches, ghosts and goblins running along the sidewalks and front lawns with their overflowing bags of treats. It’s a magical night!
I also love a spooky tale, especially true ones…don’t you?!
It was Halloween and I was alone here at the spa. Vera, Daffy and Beatrice had all left early to prepare themselves for the evenings festivities of costume parties and trick-or-treaters. At 4:30 in the afternoon it was already beginning to grow dark outside as it does this time of year. Doubting anyone was going to drop in for a last-minute rinse and set, I decided to go ahead and call it a day myself.
I went in the back and gathered my things. Putting on my coat, I turned off the lights as I passed their switches one by one till I was at the front door. I flipped over the hanging sign to “Closed” and gave one final glance over my shoulder, making sure everything was in order before I left. Giving the last switch a final flick, I reached for the doorknob. Suddenly, a voice coming from the dimly lit room behind me whispered a soft “Hello.” Clutching the collar of my coat, I whirled around to face my newest and most unexpected client. “Oh my lord, you scared me to death!” I laughed nervously, quickly switching the lights back on.
“I’m sorry I frightened you…won’t you help me…I’m so very late.” said the young girl. Calming myself I replied, “Of course dear, I can help you, I just didn’t hear you come in!” (which was strange as I always hear the beauty chimes ring as the door opens in the reception entry.) “Just let me take off my coat.” Placing it on a chair, I began to say “What is it that I…” turning to face a now empty spot. Somehow the girl had already taken a seat at my station, which by the way, was on the other side of the room!
She sat there staring at her reflection as I walked up from behind. “You’re pretty quick!” I told her. Her eyes slowly lifted up to meet mine in the mirror. “I’m sorry…won’t you help me…I’m just so very late.” she softly said again. “Now dear, it’s never too late here at the Pink Bubbles Doll Spa, in fact you just made it in for our Halloween special! I said cheerily. “What’s your name?” I asked her. “Millie.” she said softly. “O.K. Millie, let’s see what we can do!”
I started off Millie’s beauty treatments with our Pink Bubbles Beauty Bath for Face & Body of course! I then washed and conditioned her hair. I couldn’t help but notice she was just ice-cold as I wrapped the towel around her blonde locks, brushing my fingers along her neck, tucking in the strays. “Your freezing you poor thing!” I gave her an extra-large spa towel to drape over her lap for warmth. After I set her hair, I said “Lets start on your make-up. Are you going out tonight sweetie? You got a Halloween date?” Though she hadn’t said much all this time, she suddenly looked up and replied “Yes…my date…I’m so very late…” “Well, you’ll be worth the wait!” I said continuing my work. I shaped and colored in her brows and replaced the missing color from her blue shadow and then darkened her lids. A fresh coat of deep red lip color was then applied. “Almost finished…there!”
And with that, I slowly turned her back around to face her reflection. “I think you need a bit more blush though, you’re still so pale!” dabbing her cheeks with just a bit more color before I was satisfied with the results. “And wear these, a little “treat” for Halloween…on the house!” I said placing the golden hoops on her ears.
Millie gazed at herself in the looking-glass in a way that almost seemed she was looking far beyond her own reflection. “Well I guess that’s it for me, besides your late, remember? Let me get you your bill and my card. I’d love for you to come back!” I went to Vera’s desk to get the receipt book. Filling in her first name…”Millie,” I began my walk back. “What was your last name dear?” I asked, realizing just then that it was very quiet. Too quiet. I was alone. My station and the Pink Bubbles Doll Spa were both very empty!
Walking home that chilly evening, my pace quickened as it always does, past the old cemetery. Something did catch my eye though, just behind the tall iron gates. It was a quick glint of moonlight reflecting off a golden hoop earring. I stopped and slowly turned to get a closer look. It was worn by a pretty young girl whose blonde hair was tied back in a familiar top-knot ponytail. She was standing just beyond the second row of granite tombstones and statues, the evening mist just beginning to form at her feet. Her beautiful pale face seemed to glow in the moon’s silver beams. Millie smiled at me from the darkness and raised a pale hand and slowly waved. Taking my own hand from the warmth of my coat pocket, I tentatively returned her wave. As if by magic, a tall young man with a crew-cut appeared at her side. She seemed happy to see him, and took hold of his offered arm. They made a hauntingly beautiful couple! I stood mesmerized as they both seemed to slowly fade away…into the darkness.
Millie wishes you all a very Happy Halloween!
Thank you Patricia and Millie for visiting us (I think!) here at the Pink Bubbles Doll Spa. Come back again soon!

“Up”-Town Girls!
P.B.D.S. Clients – #0029
From the collection’s of Lisa, Jaime & Victoria!
All dolls have secret lives as we all know…here’s a peek into three!
Though they’ve never met, these three Pink Bubbles Doll Spa clients all have one thing in common…a run-in with a pair of scissors! Yes, each one of them had the unfortunate experience of having their long ponytails lopped off, leaving them a little “short” on styling options. Whether hacked off above or just below the shoulders, they all faced the same problem… to do the best with what they had (left!) That’s where I come in, adding the second thing they all have in common, taking a seat in my chair!
Now, we all know that a gals hair is her crowning glory, but when that crown has been irrevocably altered by a little “beautician-in-training,” it can be quite upsetting for the doll forced to live with the results. Don’t worry ladies, when a hair tragedy strikes, there’s always hope here at the Pink Bubbles Doll Spa!
Our first example is Paige. This striking brunette was in dire beauty straits when she first arrived, as you can see from her “before” picture below. After a day of beauty services to her face and body, the last thing to tend to was her cut hair. It was decided an elegant up-do was the way to go and she, and her owner Lisa, were thrilled with the results. You’d hardly guess it was the same girl!
Lottie, from the collection of Jaime, faced the same hair challenge. A lovely #3, she was nearly perfect…except for her hair. Cut off at the shoulders, the remains of her blonde ponytail were fashioned into the elegant bun style seen below.
What a difference a day at Pink Bubbles can make! She’s now the perfect fashion model for “Gay Parisienne” one of the rarest of all vintage Barbie doll outfits. Magnifique!
When this blonde bombshell is spotted out on the town, admiring gentlemen call out, “Ooh la la…it’s Lottie!”
Our third example of a cut ponytail fix is Edie, a Swirl with a very pretty shade of red hair. So pretty in fact, her owner Victoria wanted to save it, so we took on the challenge! Luckily, her swirl bang hair was still long enough to make it around the top wrap. After that though, there wasn’t much to work with. The solution? A double curled topknot! And as a tribute to the classic yellow ribbon that would have held the bottom of her ponytail in place, a charming decorative bow is added as the finishing touch.
So there you have it. Three examples of hair mishaps with happy endings! So the next time you come across a gal with “cut” hair, don’t just dismiss her, she may actually be a “diamond in the rough.” Take a moment and think back to this fabulous trio. Who knows, you may have found your own “Up”-Town Girl” who, with a little help, could soon be ready to model the most elegant evening gown in your collection!
Thank you Lisa & Paige, Jaime & Lottie and Victoria & Edie

All dolls have secret lives as we all know…here’s a peek into one of them!
I admire a gal with a dream… especially when that dream is opening up your own business. After all, mine was to open the Pink Bubbles Doll Spa and here we are!
My friend Betty’s dream was owning her own restaurant and tonight hers was finally coming true. In fact “Betty’s Drive-Thru” was set to have its grand-opening in just a few hours when she came rushing in to the spa. “Honey, I hope you can squeeze me in cause I’m running outta time and one of my waitresses just called in sick! Imagine that, on her first night!” she told me. “Can I put this in your window while I’m here?” she said holding up the “Waitress Wanted” sign. “I gotta find a girl quick and I can’t be in two places at once! I may have to interview and hire her in curlers!”
“Sure thing Betty!” I said. While she placed the sign in the window, (I’m not even going to think about what passerby’s would say, scratching their heads..after all a waitress needed at Pink Bubbles?!) I started preparing my station for the job ahead.
Poor Betty, she’d been going a mile-a-minute for months readying the restaurant, and it was taking a toll on her appearance. She wanted to look great tonight and I had just under two hours to get the order right!
The first thing I recommended from our menu to Betty was a relaxing Pink Bubbles Beauty Bath for Face & Body. She needed some time to just relax, clear her head and let us wait on her for a bit.
When Daffy brought her back from her treatment, she took a seat in my chair and I got to work. Her hair was just a mess, I don’t think she’d run a comb through it in weeks, she didn’t have the time! After a good washing and some conditioner, I de-tangled it and began the styling. I pulled her hair up and back, securing it into a smooth ponytail and then curled the ends. I then addressed the messy curls of her bangs. Now, her hair looks great!
Next, I started on her make-up. I darkened her faded brows, then I evened out her blue eye shadow. Next, I touched up her lids. Her beautiful blue eyes finished, I mixed and applied a pretty coral shade of lipstick. I also gave her a touch of blush as she was a little pale. She looked years younger! I had Beatrice bring in her tray of “Safety-First!” earrings, (as if you could stop her!) and she selected the perfect pair.
All the while, Betty kept her eye nervously on the door, waiting for someone to notice the sign…but unfortunately, no one did. “Well, your ready to go!” I said as I turned her to the mirror. “You’re gonna knock em’ dead tonight Betty, I just know it!” Giving herself one last look, she said “I just hope to get through it. I guess I’m gonna have to pull triple duty tonight, owner, manager and waitress!” She then walked over and pulled her sign from the window.
“You know what Betty? You’re going to enjoy your big night as the proud owner only! I’ve done my fair share of waiting tables and if you’ll have me, I’m happy to help tonight! Look, I’m already wearing the right shoes!” I said pointing down to my no-nonsense white ortho’s. We both laughed! “Your hired Honey…your a real doll!” she said giving me a big hug. “Dinner’s on me…and by the way, you get to keep your own tips!”

Thank you Victoria and Betty for visiting the Pink Bubbles Doll Spa!

The Girl Most Likely!

All dolls have secret lives as we all know…here’s a peek into one of them!
Here at the Pink Bubbles Doll Spa, we’re often asked to wipe away years of wear and tear from the faces and hairdo’s of our clients. As a-matter-of-fact, turning backs the hands of time is our business! Take for instance the requests of our next spa guest, Marjorie.
Everyone knew a girl like Marjorie in High School…she was the popular girl, the cheerleader, teacher’s pet and more than likely voted “Queen of the Prom!”
On that final day of High School, when she pulled away from the parking lot in that new convertible she got as a graduation gift from her parents, you just knew she was off to begin her fabulous future. Admit it, you were a tad jealous…I know I was!
All of those wonderful things actually did happen for our Marjorie. She had a wonderful life indeed! She graduated college, eventually married her “Campus Hero” and settled into a lovely Dream House. The happy years just drifted by.
But no one, not even Marjorie, escapes the passing of the years. And the day she opened her mailbox and found out her High School reunion was just around the corner, she decided she had better try to pull herself together! As you can imagine, girls like Marjorie have the added pressure of living up to everyone’s memories of her. Being voted “Girl Most Likely…” comes back to haunt you in the end! In fact, she was “most likely” going to be the girl scrutinized the closest by her classmates. And that’s where Pink Bubbles comes in!
Still a lovely girl all these years later, I agreed with her that we could still make some improvements for that evenings reunion. She wanted to look her best, so I advised her it’s always good to start with our Pink Bubbles Beauty Bath for Face & Body, and she agreed. Daffy made sure Marjorie was well taken care of while I prepared my station. When she returned, I washed, conditioned and re-set her hair, eliminating the dreaded “frizzies!”
Happy with her hair, I got to work refreshing her make-up. Her brows, lids and lips were restored to their former glory and with the assistance of Madge, her finger and toenail polish matched the red shade of her lips. Our jobs complete, I finally turned her to the mirror to show her the results and I swear I saw a sparkle in her eyes she didn’t have when she first came in! Looking at her now, I couldn’t imagine her being any more lovely that she was at that very moment!
I asked her what she planned on wearing that evening and a mischievous smile spread across her face. “You know, I tried on my old prom dress yesterday and I’m proud to say, it still fits!” Of course, with her figure, I already assumed it did! “Wouldn’t it be a hoot to show up in it!” she laughed. “Honey,” I said, “You still got the face and the figure, but do yourself a big favor, forget the dress! Your pushing your luck as it is with those broads!”
An “Enchanted Evening” awaits Christine’s lovely doll! She’s managed to go back in time with the help of the Pink Bubbles Doll Spa staff. A Pink Bubbles Beauty Bath for Face & Body, followed by hair and make-up treatments made this gal “most likely” to re-take her throne as “Queen of the Prom!” once again!
Thank you Marjorie and Christine for visiting us here at the Pink Bubbles Doll Spa…come back again real soon!

All dolls have secret lives as we all know…here’s a peek into one of them!
Let’s face it, there’s nothing worse than a stale sandwich! Here at the Pink Bubbles Doll Spa our staff takes turns one day a week and brings in lunch for the other girls. It breaks up lunch-packing monotony and gives us all more variety. Since there are five of us here; myself, Vera, Beatrice, Madge and Daffy, we have five lunches covered with only one day to figure it out on our own. Friday’s are Daffy’s day to provide and though she tries hard, it’s hit or miss to say the least!
Today, Daffy’s lunch menu consisted of Devils Food chicken spread on rye bread, cantaloupe slices and Dr. Pepper. For desert, Hostess Snow Balls, you know, the hot pink coconut marshmallow cakes with the creamy middle. Poor Daffy, I hope she finds a husband who can cook…for his sake! Besides the clashing tastes of our lunchtime bounty, the rye bread was stale. Not because it wasn’t fresh, but the wax paper opened up and the sandwiches got to air out since the early morning hours.
Why am I rattling on about stale sandwiches you may wonder? Because it leads me to Carol, my next spa client! Carol’s a real doll, not to mention our local Tupperware lady. As a matter of fact it was Carol who offered me escape from adding Daffy’s snowball snack cake to the churning ingredients fighting in my stomach from lunch!
Carol came rushing into the spa to set up for the Tupperware party slated for 7:00 that evening. Why is there going to be a Tupperware party at Pink Bubbles you may wonder? Because frankly, I wanted those adorable hot pink drinking cups with the embedded silver glitter I was offered as a hostess gift! As a bonus, I also thought it would be a great way to meet the ladies of the area, you know, the ones who just might make an appointment with us in the future!
“Tupperware parties, the only place a lady is allowed to “burp” in public! ”
With only a few hours to set up, Carol really needed to reserve some time in my chair as well! Always well-groomed, I’ve never seen her in such a state of disarray. Running a house and business on the side can really take its toll apparently! She was desperate for a quick wash, tease & set before the party and luckily for her, I’m also in the business of “keepin’ it fresh!” The harried hostess with a head for business needed that same head transformed, but quick. Let’s face it, she wasn’t going to make a very good impression, not to mention many sales with her customers looking this way!
She started off with a relaxing Pink Bubbles Beauty Bath for Face & Body. Refreshed, she had her Bubble hairdo washed, set and styled. I also freshened up her make-up by touching up her brows, eyes and beautiful full lips. Madge gave her a Mani & Pedi in exchange for a generous mixing bowl discount!
The girls here on the staff are staying after work to attend Carol’s Party. We’ve all decided to chip in and surprise Daffy with her first set of Tupperware, the sandwich keepers! Hopefully it won’t be long before Carol gets them in!
By the way, here’s Carol now! Let’s get the party started!
I think it’s safe to whip out your sales book now Carol, you look as fresh as last nights lemon pie, stored in the pink Tupperware pie caddy found on page 13 of this months catalog!
Please enjoy Carol’s before & after photos below!
Carol is now ready to take orders! She invested some extra time before her party to enjoy a little pampering! She started with our Pink Bubbles Beauty Bath for face & Body. Her hair was washed, styled and set. Special attention was given to her eyes, giving them a less “startled” look! Luscious lips were the final touch to get the party started!
Thank you Carol and Cathy for visiting us here at the Pink Bubbles Doll Spa! Come back again real soon!

All dolls have secret lives as we all know…here’s a peek into one of them!
Who doesn’t love to travel? I know I do! Of course, I rarely escape the pink stucco walls of the spa these days, we’ve been so busy. That’s why I always enjoy a good travel adventure shared by a fortunate client who actually gets to go somewhere exotic. By the time I spray on their final coat of Aqua-Net, I feel like I actually tagged along on their trip! Why, this month alone, I vicariously went to Miami Beach, Catalina Island, Japan and with the latest tale from my newest client Bobbie – Jamaica, without ever leaving my station!
I’ll admit when I first met her, I was taken aback a little by her beatnik style. But clearly not as much as Vera our receptionist, who couldn’t hide her disapproving looks as she took her in from head to toe. “Your twelve o’clock is here.” she announced bringing her in, “Please have a seat dear. You’ll be here a while! Would you prefer coffee or tea?” “I’ll take coffee, thank you!” replied our guest. Always willing to pitch in, especially on hectic days like today, Vera called out “Daffy! Bring coffee to station one!” and returned to her desk.
Now we all know vacations don’t always go as planned, but my new friend Bobbie’s adventure was indeed a trip for the books! According to her, she won the two-week Jamaican holiday as a contestant on “Let’s Make A Deal!”
Who would have thought dressing up as a giant carrot and being selected by Monty Hall to make a deal would end up bringing a girl such drama and adventure! Remembering back to that fateful day, she says she’s very happy she traded the new avocado green refrigerator for mystery door number three where the lovely Carol Merrill was standing!
“Let’s Make A Deal!” A place where girls dressed as carrots can end up in a pickle!
According to Bobbie, things went awry the moment she landed on the island of Jamaica. First, her luggage was nowhere to be found in the baggage claim. Later she was told apologetically, her new set of Samsonite “Silhouette” luggage (again courtesy of Monty Hall and Carol Merrill) containing all her lovely clothes was on its way to Canada! (BTW, who could have been so careless as to let a thing like that happen?!!)
In addition, adding to her dilemma, most of her $500.00 prize money was gone as well as she had tucked it behind the mirror of the stylish make-up case. With only $17.14 found at the bottom of her purse and a luckily paid in advance hotel room to her name, Bobbie decided just to make the best of things. So with the tenacity of Scarlett O’Hara, determined not to let that ole’ Civil War get her down, she set off to enjoy her holiday!
As you can imagine, her dough didn’t last long and with thirteen days to go and her luggage still remaining M.I.A., she took matters into her own hands. Walking along the shore, she was drawn to the rhythmic sound of a reggae band playing for the tourists. She noticed their large gumbie drum leaning alone against the tree and decided to give it a try! Musically gifted, she blended smoothly into their tempo. After several numbers, the bands lead singer, a nice fellow named Bob, made her an honorary member of his band “The Wailers” by giving her an equal share of the tips left by the appreciative listeners. She sure did need the money and was grateful to have it! They became great friends and she met them there every afternoon to play for the remainder of her stay!
She had a ball but said she may have taken things a bit too far by adopting the wild hair style of her band mates. Sunshine, salt, sand, and plenty of humidity for two weeks straight created the “do” seen below for me to untangle!
When she made it back home, her shocked mother made an appointment and drove her straight to the Pink Bubbles Doll Spa where she spent the afternoon with me, my rat-tail comb and a good conditioner! I really enjoyed listening to Bobbie’s Jamaican tales and hope she’ll return to the spa sometime soon. With her gorgeous new looks, I’m sure many more adventures await her!
Please enjoy her before & after photos below!
Bobbie says “Never be afraid to “go for broke!” When life hands you an avocado green refrigerator, don’t play it safe, trade it for the mystery behind door number three…you just may have the time of your life!”
Bobbie really needed a vacation from her vacation! She started off with a relaxing Pink Bubbles Beauty Bath for Face & Body. Some unfortunate facial stains were successfully treated and lightened, definitely improved, don’t you agree! With a face-full of refreshed make-up, coupled with her rescued mane of dark locks, I’d say she’s as beautiful a vision as any Caribbean sunset!
Thank you Greg and Bobbie for visiting us here at the Pink Bubbles Doll Spa! Come back soon!

From the collection of Steven!
It was the hottest day of the summer and the mercury in the spa’s thermometer left the 100 degree mark behind and continued right on climbing. On top of that, the air conditioner went on the fritz which only added to the merriment. I had Daffy find and plug-in all the fans we had stored in the back. Of course Vera complained the most about the heat as she doesn’t like to be uncomfortable, AT ALL! Beads of sweat, mixed with Aqua-Net trickled off her forehead, which she continually dabbed at with her lace hankie. Mix that with the smell of “Ambush!” her latest signature scent, and boy howdy!
~Vera’s latest signature smell! ~
We all sat cooking in our own juices waiting for Herb the repairman to show up and fix the darn cooler, which I’m sure is on its last legs. Now, just when you thought it wasn’t going to get any hotter, in walks our latest spa quest. This red-hot redhead certainly got your attention, bringing her own kind of heat! I swore the temperature jumped up ten more degrees when she entered the spa! Her Lava-Red hair and not so subtle make-up palate, complete with shiny as glass sealer, wasn’t exactly screaming “Sandra Dee” innocence. She was “all-woman” alright and I wouldn’t recommend leaving your Husband lying around out in the open with her in the vicinity, if you get my drift!
She climbed into my chair and after welcoming her to the Pink Bubbles Doll Spa, I asked how I could help her. “Well, I guess what I’m looking for is…you know, to tell you the truth, I’m not sure!” she said with a laugh. “I guess we can start at the top and work our way down honey!”
She had a great attitude with a terrific sense of humor to boot so I liked her immediately! “Your hair color sure is striking!” I told her. “I don’t think I have a swatch in this color.” “Well, snip off a sample with my compliments!” she laughed. “It might catch on.” “Or might catch fire!” I said as I gave her a wink. “I decided to become a red-head, and I don’t do anything half-assed!” she said. “If you’re looking for the girl next door…” “I know”, I said holding up my hand, “…go next door!” we both said in unison, laughing. Vera looked up at us, not amused!
“I guess I’d like to tone it down a bit…not my hair color mind you, I love it, but my overall look.” she told me. “I’m a singer, and I’m gonna try breaking into some of the high-brow joints uptown.” “I wanna stay me, but class it up!” were her instructions.
I handed her off to Daffy who escorted her into the back where she relaxed in a “cool-down” version of our Pink Bubbles Beauty Bath for Face & Body treatment. With her hair in a towel, she hopped back in my chair and my work began. I tamed her mass of locks, shaping them into a classic swirl hair design. With her hair now perfectly set, I finished her make-up, giving her a more elegant look. When I finished, she looked in the mirror and said “This is perfect, your some kind of magician! I sure could use you in my dressing room opening night!” “Well, I’ve been known to make house calls, why should nightclubs be any different! You know, I swear I’ve never seen shinier hair. What’s your secret?” I asked. “Just got lucky!” she said. “My hair has become my trademark, it really reflects the spotlights.” she told me.”Let me show you!”
Suddenly, she stood up and gave us an impromptu night club performance right on the spot! “You see, I always open up my set with this number! It’s called “That Terrific Rainbow!”
“Imagine me bathed in a hot red light!” she said. Raising her arms straight up, she began her song, a cappella. “I’m a red-hot mama!”… picture it, they hit me with a blue gel when I sing this line,… “but I’m blue…for you!” ….get it?…then comes the purple gel… “I get purple with anger…at the things you do!”…then a green gel bathes me in its light… “but I’m green with envy, when you meet a dame!” …here comes the orange hue… “and you burn my heart up with an orange flame!”…again with the red…”I”m a red-hot Mama, but your white and cold… white light… “Don’t you know your Mama, has a heart of gold!” …hit me with gold!… “Though we’re in those grey clouds…someday you’ll find, a terrific rainbow, over you and I!”
Myself, Daffy and yes, even Vera, gave her a round of applause. But the loudest clapping of all came from the entryway. Herb, who had finally showed up to repair the air conditioning, was the most appreciative of our floor show. “Put your eyes back in their sockets and get that thing working Herb!” scolded Daffy. Picking up his toolbox, he shot back a glance at our fiery songbird and let out a long wolf whistle! Laughing, he headed towards the back. “A typical man!” shot Vera.
Our new friend was a Red-Hot Mama alright! I think we’ll try to schedule an appointment for her in December, you know, when the furnace goes on the blink. We’ll need the heat!
